Banff Travel Guide

So excited to share one of my most requested blog posts! Banff is one of my absolute favorite places and since this was my third year to visit, I feel like I finally figured it all out!

How to get there: You will fly into the Calgary and rent a car to drive to Banff. The drive is about an hour and a half with the most beautiful scenery!

Where to stay:

This year we stayed at Fairmont Banff Springs and it was incredible. Out of the other two places we stayed at in the past, this was by far my favorite. It is a beautiful property, in a great location, and has amazing restaurants/bars on property. There is also a Fairmont at Lake Louise which is SO beautiful, but I would recommend staying at the Banff location instead. Lake Louise is kinda out in the middle of nowhere, so there’s not much to do out there (other than enjoy the beautiful views).

Where to Eat:

Tooloulou’s: absolute best breakfast!! I come here every year!

Sky Bistro: This restaurant is at the top of a mountain (you take a gondola up) and the view is incredible!! Food is good too!

Lookout Patio: This restaurant is located at the Fairmont Banff Springs on the patio. The best views and delicious food!

Lakeview Lounge: This is located at the Fairmont Lake Louise and is SO beautiful. You do have to stay at one of the Fairmont properties to eat at this restaurant.

Cow’s Ice Cream: You absolutely have to stop by here for dessert! You can smell the waffle cones from blocks away and even though there’s always a ling line, it’s worth the wait!

What to do:

Lake Louise: the most beautiful lake I’ve ever been to! You can go canoeing, hiking, and site seeing. Parking can be a little tricky. One of the best parts about staying at The Fairmont is you can park in the other Fairmont’s parking garage. This was a huge life saver since shuttles can be a pain in the butt!

Lake Moraine: this is another gorgeous lake! Unfortunately I have no other parking tips other than to get there super early. If parking is full, you can take a shuttle!

Helicopter tour: This was the first time I did this and it was SO cool! Alpine Helicopters was amazing and made the whole experience very enjoyable.

If you have any other questions about Banff, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Emily! You should add that if you go to the lakes both moraine and Louise after 6pm it is wayyy easier to park!! You can basically drive right up to the lakes!
